I’m Alex

Food blogger & Uncookbook author

Raw with Alex is where I share my love for fresh, living foods and the lifestyle that comes with eating this way. I’m drawn to meals that feel light, natural, and energizing, especially fruit, green juices, smoothies, and simple raw foods that are easy for the body to digest.

Most of the time I keep things very simple, but I also enjoy having fun with food. I love creating recipes, putting together colorful meals, and finding ways to make this lifestyle feel beautiful and enjoyable, not restrictive.

For me, eating this way isn’t about nitpicking everything I eat and judging others in the raw community. It’s really just about about feeling clear, energized, and connected to nature and working with my body and lifestyle.

This space is where I share recipes, ideas, and inspiration for a high-fruit, low-fat, mostly raw lifestyle that feels natural, sustainable, and genuinely enjoyable.

I like food that feels fresh, colorful, and energizing, but I also enjoy meals that feel comforting sometimes. Some days are simple, some days are more creative, and that balance is part of what makes this way of eating work for me.

Behind the blog

How it all started

My interest in natural health started in my late teens after going through several years of disordered eating and trying different high-protein diets that left me feeling anxious, exhausted, and out of balance. At the time, I thought I was doing what I was supposed to do to be healthy, but instead I ended up with hormone issues, digestive problems, and constant stress around food.

Eventually I began learning about digestion, detoxification, and the way the body actually functions when it isn’t overloaded. The more I read, the more I was drawn to a simpler approach centered around fresh fruit, raw foods, green juice, and meals that were easy for the body to process.

As I started eating this way, I noticed changes not just physically, but mentally. My energy became steadier, my digestion improved, and I felt calmer and more clearheaded than I had in years. What began as an attempt to fix my health turned into a genuine appreciation for this lifestyle and the connection to nature that comes with eating fresh, living foods.

This blog grew out of that experience. It’s a place where I share recipes, ideas, and what I continue to learn along the way, with the goal of showing that healthy eating can feel natural, enjoyable, and sustainable.

FAQ

Most of the time I eat a high-fruit, low-fat, mostly raw vegan diet. I focus on foods that digest easily and leave me feeling light and energized, like fruit, green juice, smoothies, salads, and simple plant-based meals. I don’t try to be perfect, but I do notice I feel my best when my food is fresh, natural, and not too heavy

Not always. Many days I eat mostly raw, especially during the day, but I also enjoy simple cooked plant foods sometimes. For me, this lifestyle isn’t about strict rules. It’s about eating in a way that supports digestion, energy, and overall balance.

I usually use my Canon camera when I’m taking recipe photos or anything more styled, but I also use my iPhone 16 a lot for everyday meals and quick shots. Natural light makes the biggest difference, so most of my photos are taken near a window or outside.

Fruit is one of the easiest foods for the body to digest, and it gives quick, clean energy without feeling heavy. When I eat more fruit, I notice better digestion, clearer skin, and more consistent energy. It’s also simple, refreshing, and easy to prepare, which makes it something I come back to again and again.

No. I don’t count calories, macros, or protein. When you eat enough whole, natural foods, especially fruit and vegetables, the body tends to regulate itself. I focus more on how food feels in my body than on numbers, and that approach has worked much better for me long term.

Training & Certifications

Over the years, I’ve studied nutrition, natural health, and plant-based living through a combination of formal certifications, personal research, and hands-on experience. My approach is influenced by high-fruit, low-fat, and mostly raw nutrition, along with the belief that the body functions best when food is simple, easy to digest, and as close to nature as possible.

I’ve also had the opportunity to learn from people in the raw food and natural health world like Juliano and Rod Rotundi whose work focuses on living foods as a foundation for long-term wellness. These experiences helped shape the way I eat and think about health today.
